ItaliaspeedTV – 81st Geneva Motor Show 2011: Alfa Romeo 4C Concept

By on 5-20-2011 in Uncategorized

Alfa Romeo has officially previewed the new 4C sports car concept fitted with the powerful 1750 turbocharged engine as well as the TCT transmission and the brand’s “DNA” button, just as it makes its debut at the 81st Geneva Motor Show this morning, while at the same time VW Chairman Ferdinand Piech has again registered his keen interest in Alfa Romeo at the Swiss motor show. In its press release issued this morning Alfa Romeo closes with a final line that claims the 4C is destined for production: “This car is not simply an exercise in style created for the motor show; it will be on sale in 2012 and is set to reinforce Alfa Romeo’s global growth.” While the 4C Concept was getting all the attention this morning, VW Chairman Piech last night at a special event suggested that in VW’s hands the Alfa Romeo brand could reach 400000 units sales by 2016. Last year it sold just 112000 cars. By contrast Fiat CEO Sergio Marchionne is much more optimistic for Alfa Romeo, he plans to reach 500000 sales by 2014. Marchionne had also previously targeted 300000 units by 2010. The overall shape of the 4C, while developing some thinking from the 8C Competizione, shows a strong similarity to the Lotus Evora, particularly in the glass house form, the glass engine cover and the overall design language shapes. Other external influences melded into the new project include the venting in the frame around the engine cover which is reminiscent of Ferrari’s 360/430. Piecing together some information

  1. more than OK car, AR should reconsider thier rims

  2. le alfa hanno un cuore

  3. and us loyal alfisti will support you. even if it means selling our kidneys.

4C, i wanna make love to you without protection.twice. o.O

  4. what alfa can do is to sweeten this model as best as they can. put this car in wet, wet superglossy paint like the Competizione 8C red (you’ll squirt in your pants, trust me). get Prodrive to tweat the handling again. do lots of track testing.

  5. i don’t mind it all. because with this platform sorted, alfa will have more great cars to come in the near future.

  6. i don’t mind it has bits of mito, elise, 458 italia in it. i don’t mind it looks slightly odd with the quirky lines at the shoulder. i don’t mind it is not as stunning as the 2uettottanta concept. i don’t mind it will not handle as well as the evora & cayman. i don’t mind it will most probably weigh up to 1300kg in production cars

  7. mid engine & RWD configuration, as you guys know, is what makes cars like the evora & cayman so deliciously good at handling. with the lightweight 1.75l turbo engine, that’s just even better!!

  8. to all alfisti all around the world:

yes yes yes!! alfa is back!! i never expected this in my lifetime. after so many near misses & empty promises over the years, they finally went back to rear wheel drive! what’s more suprising was they also went mid-engined!

  9. I <3 ALFA
